Glasgow is the most desirable place to live in the UK, research finds

Glasgow has experienced significant regeneration in recent years, with new apartments, job opportunities, shops and cafes creating a vibrant city.

A recent study by London-based real estate rental agency, AddLiving found that more people in the UK searched for "rental flats in Glasgow" than in any other city across the country.

Searching for 'flats to rent' on Google, they compiled the results with any UK location mentioned, and organised the results by volume to identify which UK locations residents most desire.

The results showed that 9,500 searches per month were for Glasgow, compared to 7,000 for Edinburgh, 5,500 for Liverpool and London's and 5,000 for Dundee.

Olly Roberts, spokesperson for AddLiving, said: “The rental market has been heavily affected by the pandemic, with many tenants wanting a quick move when they realised their current city doesn’t have enough to offer.

“Interestingly Glasgow didn’t make it into the top 5 places that aren’t searching to move flat, despite everyone else in the UK is wanting to move there. But it is nice to see that two Scottish cities feature in the top 5, with people wanting a city that isn’t too far from nature for that perfect post-lockdown balance.”
